Dat file only plays inside Temp Internet Folder

There's a video on the web that plays fine inside of Internet Explorer when I visit the website that hosts the video. Also, later I can find the video file in my Temporary Internet Files folder. It's a .dat file. If I select the file it will play in Windows Media Player.

But if I copy this file out of my Temporary Internet Folder and save it somewhere else on my hard drive then Windows Media Player won't play it anymore. No other video app will play it either. But it will still play as long as I select it from within my Temporary Internet Folder.

Is there any way I can get this file out of my Temporary Internet Files folder and saved in a format I can play later?

datt viewer is an option in k-lite pac this is an add on for file sharing programs it lets you view movies that have not finnished downloding to your files like part of a movie it is a good little player so you can use this when you are downloading a video that you think is one thing but when you view the file you find out when you view it it is someting else

Thanks rdmercer1. I've installed K-Lite pac (v. 2.6.9.0) but I'm having trouble finding a .dat viewer option. Under config I can see choices like FFDShow, DirectVobSub etc. and under Tools I have things like GraphEdit, GSpot codec Info and others but I don't see any options for viewing a .dat file.
