I have a magic 3.1 modchip installed on my ps2. So generally, is it ok to keep the dummy files or is it a must to do the 1-byte text file method? Also, is it better to directly burn the ISO file or is breaking it down with isobuster and then burning the individual files with nero a more effective method?

Depends what game it is, If it can fit into a DVD, in its ISO format, than just leave it as that. And straight burn

PS2 Slimline + Swap Magic + Fan
PS3 60gb Version 1.90
PSP 3.52 M33 EUR Black Version + Logitech Hard Case + Logitech 3 Sound Speakers + 2gb Sony Memory Stick
Nintendo Wii + 3 Wii&Nunchuck Controllers
NDS Original + M3 Simply + 1gb Kingston MicroSD
NDS Lite + M3 Simply + 2gb Sandisk MicroSD

i do not know anything about that chip, but if it is any good then replacing dummy files and rebuilding games is not needed.
I never have to with my DMS4 Pro

It is easiest and faster to just strait out burn a game, especially since 95% of them do not need rebuilding anyway.

so my suggestion is to get a game that you KNOW people using swap magic had to rebuild or replace dummy files, burn them strait up and see if it works for your chip, if not rebuild it with the ISO Buster/Nero method and then test it again. If it works after rebuilding it then you will need to do the same as swap magic people and rebuild those that need it.
