How long is my 30Gb iPod battery life suppose to be? I know it says that it can go for 14 hours, but I barely used my iPod during the day because I'm at school and when I come home it's all gone. I recharged my iPod over night, then listen to it for about 20 minutes going to school, then I watched 1 movie on it that was about 1 hour 30 minutes long (Southpark Bigger Longer Uncut) And now the battery is all gone. I barely used it for 2 Hours!!! Can someone help me? Do this usually happen, is it supposed to???
battery life all depends on how much you use it. also watching video's uses more power than listening to music. i'm not suprised the battery went dead after watching a 90 minute film
The most you can expect to get out of your iPod if your watching movies is 90 minutes. If you just listen to music, no backlight you can squeeze 12 hours out of it. Helps if you don't search through for new songs after every song either. As that makes the hardive have to spin up and that will use up a tiny bit of that battery life. But I wouldn't worry about that to much.
You also might want to use the hold switch. In a backpack the button can sometimes get clicked, hence the ipod turns on. It then will turn off after a short while. Also, the ipod battery will always be slowly running out. I speak from personal experiance, i locked my ipod in a hotal lock box( 40g 4th generation click wheel) because i was at a tryout and a new i would not be able to use it and i wanted it to be safe. 3 Days later i retreived it and the battery was dead. I put it in with full life and hold switch on. I again did this but for 1 day only. Same results happend, (after about a day sometimes you ahve to reset it to start the ipod up again) but this time since it was only a day it went down to half.
I heard from several people that if you work the battery it will last longer. Working th ebattery means that you dont charge it up while it is at half. You wait till it runs out before you charge. This is still only a rumor for ipod, but i know it is true for PSP(person experiance).
So, just try putter the hold switch on and "working the battery" and you might get better life.
serpiroth - that's very correct. I have also have had similar personal experiences. It's not nice waiting at the train station after a long day at work, only to find out upon extracting your iPod that it's been running all day!
