Okay, I need an answer from someone that is decently intelligent on this topic. Using Limewire, how likely is someone to get 'busted'? Does it go off of amount of downloads or how frequent it is used? How do 'they' catch people anyway? I have friends who give answers all over the place and I would like some REAL help. Is there a better and safer way to share files other than torrents? I can't really use them due to network restrictions.

You won't get copped if you use Peer Guardian 2,sorry but I don't know how it works but I've just got it,so I'm unlikely to get copped.

Not strictly true , all p2p is not 100% safe :(
no matter what anyone tells you we all take a risk downloading or uploading , safest way is newsgroups now just dl what you want and you get 0day material quicker than bt sites ;)

I dont think anything is safe at all...i dont know much about newsgroups so if someone can..plz explain what they are. Anyway..i heard that if a newsgroup gets sued they can give the RIAA all the ip's they haved logged, which in return they will have ur ip, and you will get caught.

I don't know the answer to this, but I saw something really interesting when I was reading a lawsuit (from the RIAA.)

They listed all the IP addresses they were sueing. Then, at the bottom, it said, "Sharing at least 1000 music files, or 2000 files, total."
