Hi guys

I was just wondering if any of you could help me. I want to make a real good MP3 but Im not sure how to do it. Is it better to do it using the digital method (ie using a mp3 ripper program) or the analog method (ie by plugging the output of my cd player into the line-in input of my computer's sound card and recording the sound onto my computer directly). I tried using many rippers but in all cases the sound volume dropped and the quality was worse off than the original track. I tried direct recording from the output of my cd player but the resulting mp3 sounded so loud and sharp the sound got distorted. Can anyone advise me on how I should go about making a good mp3?

Well my friend, it just so happens here at Afterdawn we have a guide on how to set up, install and configure the best MP3 ripper around. It's called Exact Audio Copy (EAC for short) and is used by all the top audio phreaks. EAC is more advanced than windows media player and all the other rippers as it checks every sector of the cd twice to make sure there are no problems. It also creates high quality sounding VBR (Variable Bit Rate) MP3's.

Yep. EAC kills off all the other rippers. The only downside to EAC is the amount of time it takes to rip a cd. But I found that instead of ripping the cd itself, make an image of the cd you want to rip, virtually mount it and EAC will recognize the virtual drive on your pc and can rip the image. My rips only take about 10 minutes using this method.
