I'm making a backup of San Andreas. I started with an MDF and MDS file. When I open it up and convert it to ISO, I have many files and directories, but NO ELF file!
Ok First of all if you want to make a backup of san andreas and you own the original use DVD Decrypter and burn to your hard drive. After it is done use DVD Decrypter to burn it to a DVD-R stick it in your ps2 after you have gone throuhg the swap magic part and play. I assume that you are using swap magic 3.6. Now some people are going to tell you that you are going to need to "rebuild it" but when you open up DVD Decrypter it says the file is 4.6 and thats an ok file to burn to a DVD-R so just burn it after you have the iso image on your computer. This method worked for me, if it does not work for you, you can try other methods. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the help. I learned a couple things with this problem:
1. It is NOT REQUIRED that there be an .ELF file for a PS2 game
2. BURN AT SLOW SPEED! I doubted this even though I read it over and over IT IS TRUE! BURN AT 2x or 4x even if you have 8x or 16x media!!!!
3. DVD Decrypter opened and burned the .MDS file---simply open with DVD Decrypter, even though many files are present in the backup, only open the .MDS or .MDF file.
