im having a big problem with trying to help my dad fix his computer. whenever he trys to watch a movie either a dvd or a video online on his laptop the video is vary dark. the thing is the monitor is not dark when u arnt watching a movie its only when u try to watch a video. can someone help me with this problem im trying to help out the old man.

adjust the brightness/contrast on the screen when watching the movie.

i tried adjusting the contrast and brightness in the media player but it didnt work hopw would i adjust it on the computer?

yes on the laptop. on some laptops there is slide switches on the sides of the screen for brightness & contrast. check laptop user guide.

overlay is a function of some video cards that allow you to chage the video properties of media players the support you will find it under your display setting if you have it

if your battery is low it might also be that the screen turned dark in order to save battery....thats wat mine does neways...

good point most lap top screens are darker when running on battery rather ac power check your power options
