Hello everyone! I've got a small problem making back-ups of PS2 games. They always work, but on a few titles the sound is choppy or the game doesn't play as efficiently as my real copy. I'm using Swap Magic to boot and Fuji Film media. My question is, is it normal for the copied game to not play very smoothly? Any help would be appreciated....Sorry about the newbie question.

Before you try rebuilding any games you have already burnt to disk try cleaning your ps2. especially the lens but be careful!!! if it is an older model thats probably your problem. hope it works.

Thanks for the help so far. As far as rebuilding, I've done that to one game. I should clean the lens though. I don't think I've ever done that. The media is minus R

it could jest be the media doesn't work well with either your PS2 or your burner. Some things to try:
1. update your burners firmware, if there is one available.
this helps with media compatibility and gives you better results.

2. lower the burning speed. General rule is to burn them at half the speed that the disc is rated for, likeb burning 8X speed DVD's
at 4X speed.

3. Clean your laser on the PS2. They make good disc cleaners that you can find in the game section of a local computer store. they are like 10-12 brush discs and work really well for general cleanings.

4. Try a different brand of media. I suggest an 8X DVD-R from
Verbatim, TDK, Philips, Ritek, or Taiyo Yuden

Usually the problems you are having are caused by one of the above.
