When you get text files, it means that the files have been encoded, and the newsreader (Grabit, etc) couldn't recognize it.

You will need to decode the files with Bomma News decoder, Yenc decoder or Decode Shell Extension from Funcuc software.

This link shows numerous options for this problem: http://www.shemes.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=6635&highlight=te...

Good Luck!

well jamaal thanks for the help but i was getting speeds of 1500 kbs and i usually only get about 60 ot 70 kbs. Then i read somewhere that there is a bug in newsgroups and in grabit that make it unable to encode the file. The files that i got where 0 btyes and all were text files. So i think it didn't work, also i am having connection problems, my server, news.kc.sbcglobal wont connect

Whoever said that stuff about newsgroup bugs and Grabit not working is full of crap!! I've used it for 4 months and have downloaded more than 500gb, and only had 1 group of text files.

The 0 byte text files are a pretty regular thing. You just have to encode the files and you're good to go.

Good luck with the connection. If you have a firewall, turn it off to see if it connects. Sometimes the firewall can block the activity, even if you have a rule for it.

you should get your games from news sites such as

www.newzbin.com (25p a week)>>> best one
www.nzbsrus.com free

just click on the download link of the game you want, open the file with the news reader you are using,(i use grabit),grab the files, and the files will start downloading ,(as long as you have paid for the server of course)(i am currently using astraweb),(unless you isp gives it you for free)

if anyone knows any better sites, then post them here

Can someone in detail tell me how to encode or decode those files that i got. The game is Soul Calibur 3. The speeds were very unusal to me like i said 1500 kbs a second and I can usually only go at 60 or 70 80 on good days. So what I need someone to do is simply tell me what to do with those 0 byte text files. Because im getting mad that i just sat there watched it download and then it doesn't work. I have about 57 text files, all are of 0 btyes, and all when i open them are blank, no wording. So if someone out there could please help me encode the files with the game or even explain it to me that would be fantastic. Any help is appreciated.
