ive tried copying one of my ps2 games several times using methods mentioned on here... ive followed all the steps, and it hasn't worked... do you need a mod chip in order to play your copied game?

You have to use some sort of a mod, whether it is a mod chip or a boot disk. Boot disks are a lot cheaper but requires you to swap out disks each time you play.
