I've backed up my copy of Gran Turismo 4 using dvddecryptor, and I tried to patch the DNAS id using windip. When I select verify file a message reading "ERROR: The Image File is not DN*S enabled or uses an unsupported version!" appears in the log. Is anyone else having this problem. How to I play my GT4 backup online?

I would redo everything including the iso, and the patch. You may have screwed up somewhere in the process. Try that and if you are still having problems tell me.
If you have any questions that have not been awnsered send me a private message ASAP.

I started from the beginning but Windip still reads the same ERROR. I have backed up all my other ps2 games and patched the DNAs with no problem using dvddecryptor and windip.

I didnt think so either but in multi player you can connect ot the network. atleast it attemps to, it actually never has, it just reads "connecting" i've waited up to an half hour without actually connecting. It does'nt state on the box that its an online game. My thoughts were maybe online play may be in the future for GT4, so I wanted my back-up to have the capabilities of online play.
Well I checked the Playstation web site. It does'nt list GT4 as an online game. But In Arcade mode you can select a multi-LAN game. and attempt to connect to the network. But as I said earlier it never connects it just reads "connecting"

Your getting the error because the game doesn't have dnas files to patch.

OK new question. Can I just burn GT4 to a DVD+R DL(then book-type). If I can, can I boot it with swap magic 3.6? or do I have to go through the extensive rebuild process and put it on a 4.7g DVD-R.

Can you connect two PS2's via network adapters, like you would with a link cable? Maybe that's what that option is.

Hello, any news on this?
I think it should be possibel to play online: Play GT4 online now -> http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache:WjyYoojGeKkJ:www.gamesradar.c...
And also there are some guys at XLink Kai how are playing this game online (look in the forum)!
I couldn't try because in the moment I only have my backup of GT4 and do not have the DNAS Disc ID - if any one likes to PM me his ID (PAL) I would give it a try and could post my experience.

you don't need a dnas ID if you're gonna use xlink kai (you won't even be able to patch any files 'cause there's no dnas files to patch), dnas is for actual online servers (xlink/kai is like a LAN emulator of sorts from what I understand, it makes it look like you're connected to a lan but you're connected to a server through the internet?)
