virtualdub if your soundtrack starts at couple of seconds out of sync and is the same at the end just goto audio interleaving and adjust your delay accordingly if it is a progresive problem ie. starts 2 secs out of sync and is 5 seconds out at the end it becomes alot more difficult a google search for VirtualDub will quickly find some great guides

Impossible. Don't you have the Xvid codec?

Usually the file becomes un-sync only when the audio was been compressed MP3 VBR and you make AVI -> mpeg (and you receive a warning from VirtualDub, when you open the AVI). If it un-sync at the beginning, simply add a Delay when you do WAV -> MP3 [step 3) of the procedure explained in the following]. If the file was in sync and becomes un-sync only when you do avi -> mpeg , follow the next process.

You need to correct the AVI's audio. To create a new MP3 file from that AVI, you must do this:
1) open the movie.avi file with VirtualDub. Once you have installed Xvid you should manage to do it without problem. There's no reason for VirtualDub bein unable to open it. It it doen't the codec used is not Xvid but, for example, DivX. Just for being sure, let's have also DivX for free (you need to pay for it only if you want to use it to compress movies).
2) Set audio__Full processing mode. Do File___Save WAV.
3) Run HeadAC3he. Load the WAV. Choose as destination format: MP3.
Click [options] couple of times. Choose Preset: ALT CBR (the file will be compressed 128 kbps CBR). [add HERE a delay (in ms) if there is a constant un-sync from the beginning to the end of the movie] Click Start: audio.WAV --> audio.MP3.
4) Run VirtualDubMod. Do Stream___Stream List. Disable the old stream, Add the one you just did.
5) Set Video___Full processing Mode. Save (F7) (-->movie2.avi)

The new movie will have a perfect audio always in perfect sync wihth the video.

Is there anything better than excellent and free softwares?
