Hello again, I still have this damn problem... I'll try to be as specific as possible.

I own an original copy of DQ8 NTSC (the one with the demo of FFXII inside). I originally tried to backup it using poor media, the result was in huge load times between transistions and in combat, and skippy audio.

After reading this forum, I tried to get some taiyo yuden, and finally today I got them. They are TYG01 Media Encoding. I read here that they are just perfect to backup PS2 games.

Today I tried to backup DQ8 again, making the ISO with DVD decrypter and burning it with the same program. With my big surprise, the problems are still there: skippy audio and huge load times.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Maybe I have to use a different program or set some specific read or write options?

Also if this information can be useful, I'm playing with a PAL PS2 (europe) and slide card with Swap Magic 3.6

Thanks

the slower the better isn't really true. if u have 4x media and 2x burn speed isn't working, try 4x speed.

btw, this game has started off many threads. maybe it needs a rebuild. tokijin has a working copy of dq 8, try contacting him but be polite and patient. and puleeze no lecturing on piracy.

btw, where did u get those ty? there are many fakes in the market, i hope u got them from a trusted site.

take care.

They're Verbatim TYG01 and confirmed by DVD info software. I checked them. And BTW, I got them from a trusted source.

Thx for the info.

Still no luck.. The game plays, but there are so big differences compared to the original disc. Load times are dramatically increased, skippy audio expecially on transitions... that's crap. Maybe the media TYG01 isn't right for the work? Maybe I'd need TYG02? I can't really understand where I am doing wrong.. do I need to rebuild the game?

I have 4 working copies of this game for some reason. Well I noticed the choppy visuals when rotating the cameras at times, so I reburned it a couple times. I realized the original did that as well. I have three burned to Taiyo Yuden and I rebuilt the other and burned it to RitekG05. They all play perfectly. I have a Matrix Infinity modchip. Try rebuilding the game. You'll want to burn at 1x or 2x on the 4x media. The TYG01's are the same high quality as the TYG02/03's, they're just a different speed. You can overwrite the dummy file or not, it's only 50MB's. It's in the root directory of the iso and labeled dmydata.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

Open the program.

1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. Click rebuild LBA.
7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.
