I'm having a problem getting my torrent clients to work on a certain internet connection. Here's what's going on:

I attend two schools, a university and a community college. I connect my laptop to the university network (via an ethernet cable) and I can download just fine. The problem is that I'm usually at the community college and that's where the trouble lies. I connect the exact same way, through an ethernet cable, but none of my torrent clients want to download. I can navigate the web without a problem, but something seems to be blocking the torrent P2P downloads.

Here is what happens with a couple different clients:

BitComet/BitLord: The message that they give me is "Connecting tracker, waiting for response". No peers ever connect.

Azureus: On the screen where it lets you test the incoming TCP listening ports, any number I enter comes back with a "NAT Error". When I try downloading it says "Connection Error (timeout)". No peers ever connect.

I disabled my firewall completely and tried changing the listening ports to numbers over 50000, but neither helped. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

-Vanessa

Most schools block/shape/throttle BitTorrent activities. My only suggestion to u is to get to know the IT guys, they will know a way to bypass the schools system.

;-D

No sig for u!.

That's very disappointing. There's no way around it, eh? No settings I can change? :(

Not that I personally know, sorry. From what I have read for you, it's really quite difficult to bypass any schools sytems.

I hope some1 else might be able to contribute to our thread here, as I have many friends in school who are trying to do the same thing.

;-D
