i have wasted hours so i hope somebody can help. if i down load xvid files and they read as nero showe time or hdtv files when put together i can watch them with windows media player or with a divx player. when i put them on a dvd-rw (using nero dvd-data) to view on my stand alone dvd player to view on the tv (it is divx/xvid and everything else) the player will see the root and the programs on it but but when a program is selected it will not reconise the codec. how can i cet around this as i dont want to have to recode and change every thing before puting it on a disk just to watch once.

(sorry put this in the wrong forum)

Really don't see what this has to do with showtime. Could be that the HDTV re-encodes are too higher res for your player and the other files are mp4's and your player only supports divx/avi files.

i took a disc i burnt into richer sounds, a samsung showed it as an mp4 file and would not play, a pioneer showed it as a av1 file and would not play it saying no codec. i tried a nissan dvd player in maplins that is badged as mp4/divx/xvid but that comes up with not supported, it seems odd that the only conection with things that dont work are all files are listed as Nero show time,i would like to get to the bottom of the problem but in the meantime is there a quick way to convert the files to a common DivX code that i can burn to a disc that most stand alone machines can read. Nero recode took 70 mins to convert a 42 min program.

Well yes, if you used recode, then they would be mp4 files. Still if you used an appropriate profile, then they should be recognised and playback on a Nero Digital certified player.

I'd suggest that instead of re-encoding the mp4's, you convert from the original source, although if the mp4 is ASP, you can remux the video to AVI. No need to re-encode.
