Slow dvd backup?

I've got a problem with my copying of DVD?s, when i want to make a backup of a DVD, it takes about an hour to copy to the computer, and than again an hour to burn, at 8x speed. This, to me, seems very weird, at first it only took about 15 minutes to copy a DVD, but now, something seems to have gone wrong. I'm using Nero to burn with, I?ve uninstalled it, and installed it again but that didn't seem to work. Any idea whats wrong?
