How am I supposed to burn this? It looks like an ISO file but it is not.

I get this error when I try to burn it to a DVD-R with DVD Decryptor:

I was then told that this image is a CD image but how should I burn it to a DVD so it will boot in my PS2 via Swap Magic DVD?

swap magic should have come with both a cd and a dvd boot disk burn your iso to cdr with Alcohol 120% selct disk type as ps2

Yeah it looks like you're trying to burn a CD-ROM based game with DVD Decrypter. Mode 2 refers to console systems, mode 1 refers to PC CD-ROM's. There are no modes involved in burning DVD's. Burn your CD-ROM backup with Alcohol 120%.

14. Q. How do I burn PS2 CD-ROM based games?
A. Use Alcohol 120%.
Ripping the game to your Hard Drive:
1. Open Alcohol 120%.
2. Insert the disk you wish to create the image from in your CD-ROM drive. Click image making wizard.
3. Set the read speed to 1x, check ignore read errors, fast skip error blocks, leave the write method alone, select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x, and set the datatype to PS2.
4. Click next.

Burning the game to CD-R:
1. Once the image is created you'll have an mdf and an mds file. Click finish if necessary.
2. Insert your blank CD-R.
3. Right click the mdf file and go to image burning wizard. Set the write speed to 4x, leave the write method alone, set the data type to PS2, select your recorder, and click next.

Thanks. I did all that and now my PS2 is trying to boot the disc...

At first I kept getting a "Not A Valid PS2 Disc Error" then I cleaned the lens with alcohol and a q-tip. It booted up right away but won't load anything.

It keeps making scratching noises and it's trying to read the disc.

I got some questions for you guys:

I use Swap Magic CD v3.3 to boot my CDs and this is a Japanese PS2 CD game. Am I supposed to boot it with the X or Square button? Also, which video format should I be using Normal, PAL, or NTSC?

I live in the USA by the way and I use Memorex CDs.

Now, about this CD ISO.

I noticed the System.cnf LBA is 7515. Should I change it to 12231?

Well I'd get some better CD Media. Memorex CD media is crappy like Memorex DVD media. Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim CD Media is good quality. The Swap Magic CD disc is notorious for having issues loading CD games. You could try burning the game to DVD instead.

A. The main reason for this is because the Swap Magic CD is notoriously fickle about loading games, plus for CD games over 640 MB's or so you need to use Breaker Pro as TOC disc to load.

Thanks but I already tried that CD to DVD method. End result: Black Screen. I even tried using CD / DVD loader with all of my burnt copies...

This CD iso was originally a DVD iso so I guess who ever converted it messed it up cause it won't boot no matter what I do...

Actually, I DID manage to get it to boot and made it as far as the menu screen but you can't see anything cause everything looks garbled and the
graphics were completely messesed up.

It always froze at the menu screen after a minute or two.

This is how I got it to boot from a CD-R:

I opened the CD ISO using ISO Buster, dragged all of the files out and into a new folder, opened up CD DVD Gen PS2 v2.0 and dragged all of the files from the new folder into that, pressed the make image button, and burned that to a CD-R.
