PSTwo w/ AR Max Evo Backup

I have a new slim ps2 with swap magic 3.6 (cd and dvd) and the magic switch installed. Backups work great, however when i use AR Max Evo backup, it loads up, but when i try to swap for the game backup, the disc is still spinning.

Now i know its still spinning because when i open the flip top, the sensors are covered with the magic switches so the ps2 doesnt know its open. The only way i've gotten around this is to remove one of the plastic pieces from the front sensor, but is that the only way? I've had success loading usb extreme from an .elf file off of a usb drive, is there a way to load armax from a usb drive?

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
