what is the make & model # of the motherboard or computer?? a pci/e slot will be longer than a agp or pci slot.

whats your mobos model number?

dnt know, not at my pc right now.

i went to crucial.com and i tried system scanner.

it said i have a AGP SLOT availible. at the moment i have a 5200 geforce 128mb

in that case then you cant have PCI-Express graphics you can only have a newer AGP graphics card

Just to make it clear incase you dont understand,a PCI-E card is physically bigger than an AGP card and not just a different specification.

You would need to buy a PCI-E compatable motherboard (which might mean a new CPU) and you also require a power supply capable of running PCI-E.
So your talking about upgrading all the major parts of your system before you could run it and not just a new graphics card.

As i said just a bit of info, if you knew some of that already no harm done.

click on the zoom in. You will get a downwards view of the motherboard. The orangish slot is PCI-Express the yellowish slot is AGP
