if your heatsink isnt heating up you dont need to buy anything you need to install it properly.
take it off, clean away any thermal paste from the base of the heatsink and the top of the processor, put a fresh thin layer of paste on and correctly install the heatsink and you shouldnt have any more problems. provided that you bought the correct fan in the first lace that is
Studio Comp: AMD Athlon XP 3200+ OC ~ 2.35GHz runs at 40 celcius idle and 48 under stress (aerocool GT1000 really works!), Asrock K7VT4A , 1024MB Dual Channel DDR 400, MSI Nvidia FX5200 128MB OC ~ 600MHz mem 350MHz core,80GB SATA + 200GB SATA + 120GB IDE, 7.1 Channel Soundblaster Audigy 2 Platinum EX sound and midi interface. 19" Sony SDM-HS95 TFT monitor - sweeet

I bought a zalman 9500 and i fixed it with arctic 5 paste...
Now i still got problem
43 C idle
59 C loading
How much paste is it needed on the Cpu ?
Is it normal that my cpu jump instantly from 43 to 59?
Is that Temperature acceptable for an amd 64 3700 ?

you should only use a drop of paste to much will result in the same result as two little, amd processors should not be that hot as will shorten there life span, so u fixed a new fan and still the same problem, is it just one programme reporting or have u tried various cuz sometimes so report a load of bs try this its free and good www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

I tried speedfan and Everest Home edition
They tells me the same thing or pretty close
at first i installed it with a Fanner Tech Amd k8 Cooler with the paste that came with it
this is a regular aluminum heatsink with fan.
My temps reading were
45C idle
67C loading
Then i bought a Zalman 9500 and i fixed it with Arctic 5 thermal paste.
Temps reading now
45C idle
59C loading
We can see that it is much better with zalman and arctic 5 but it is still close to critical temperature (70C)
All my others reading are below 30C

Yes i had to remove the pushpins and insert what they call 2 nipples :)
then you fix the fan to the support with 2 screw that goes in the nipples holes. It was quite laborious but it is well explain and the quality of the components is great.

so theres a clean seal between the cpu and the heat sink, you followed the instructions to install it to the very end, ui applied thermal past correctly and its still showing as Hot. Im clean out of surgestions. What does bios ay when it has temp? try leaving it for a few mins in bios mode with the temp on and see if it goes up at all.

its a mysterie to me, but u could try to get an even balence of airflow, so moving a fan around, and c it that makes any difference. But apart from then i would be pissed at spending all the money and nothing happening.
