Hi, I just wiped my computer clean and I am trying to get my wireless card to work again on my computer. As you can see I have internet capabilities via a LAN connection however when I put my wireless card in, it does not even recognize that anything has been put into the computer. I have installed the driver for the card, but regardless my computer does not show that anything was plugged into it. It makes the (bing) sound when I pull the card out, but that is it. Any help is more than welcome, thank you.
What kind of card is it? USB? By the "bing" I would assume so, and also "assume" (I hate doing that) the you are using XP. Since you just wiped clean, make sure you look into http://update.windows.com I know many updates have better usb support for things like wireless routers and the like. Plug back into the LAN, update fully, restart and then see if it'll plug and "play"/work.
thank you for responding, your assumptions were half correct. I am using XP, however my wireless card slides right into the side of my note book on the left side. it is a Belkin Wireless Notebook Network Card F5D6020 802.11b
I attemtped to go to the windows update site that you had linked on the page, but it was not functioning now matter what I did to try and get to the page. I fear the problem is with my browser, i get a server not found and this reply "Firefox can't find the server at update.windows.com." It tells me to check if fire fox is allowed to access the web, i'm on the "web" replying to you right now via Fire fox, but i probably have no idea what it is referring to.
I guess it's very possible windows update demands use of internet explorer. I just use the boring old explorer myself, I mean it looks cool because I use style xp, but hey. I would try using internet explorer and see if you can get there from there. I've never used FireFox, so I can't exactly say what comflict it might have, but you know how microsoft loves it's monopolies. Disable firfox for just a min and try to get on the web with explorer. It's worth a shot.

Alrighty, I tried doing the regular updating with internet explorer, but it had to validate my product keys... which for some strange reason it says that my microsoft programs are not original as if I didn't buy them, very wierd... ahem, anyways, it also gives me the option to turn on the automatic updater which i guess somehow i had already done. So I assume that I have all the updated drivers for my comp. Thank you again for your continued help.
