Hey guys.

Trying to back up my copy of v8 supercars 2 and i've read around on some forums that people have had trouble due to a libcrpyt/psx protection, or something.
I've read people's methods for trying to back the game up and they've used pretty much all ideas that I would of come up with, so I'm turning to the afterdawn folks lol.

Does anyone know much about the libcrypt/psx protection and workarounds for it?

My backup (used dvd decrypter, patched dna$, then burned image) loads fine and then when I go to load a race it starts loading the track (adelaide) and never moves on from the loading screen.

I found an article on megagames about it (http://www.megagames.com/psx/psx_libcrypt_tutorial.shtml) but i'm not going to kid myself, it's far too advanced for me! :P So it didn't help me much.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated guys :) (Or if someone is looking for a challenge, here it is apparently)

I used TDK, and had the same problem.

I tried again using Verbatim, and the game works. Can't get online with a back-up of this game though.

What kind of Media are you using? Libcrypt was used for PSX games. It's never been used for the PS2 that I'm aware of. It was easy enough to get around on PSX anyway, all you had to do was patch the game with PPFomatic. Use quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.

86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com
Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:

If it fails again, try rebuilding.

11. Q. How Do I rebuild games?
A. With Nero and Isobuster (works as long as no single file is over 2 GB's): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/197949
With CD/DVDGen: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/210515
With Expert (Gnie's new rebuilding tool):
Gnie's PS2 Auto Rebuilder Tool Download (Thanks to 3DLuis):
http://www.alucard.cc/ps2/ExPERT_v1.03.rar
Instructions to Gnie's Tool ExPERT From Paddymail:

Here's how to use it.. it might not work for all games though.

Open the program.

1. Select the Shrinker_ps2_psp_CdDvd5_iso.epi on the plugins drop down list.
2. Select the iso you want to rebuild.
3. Click extract LBA.
4. Click extract file and wait for it to finish.
5. Click rebuild file and wait for it to finish.
6. Click rebuild LBA.
7. Burn the new iso with Nero or DVD Decrypter as usual.

Made an image of the game with Alcohol 120%, burned the image using Alcohol again. Nothing special.
