I can't figure it out. I used to use the stock Sony DRU-710A BY01 firmware for over a year and burned over 100 DVD±R's with no problem, then I used Omnipatcher to modify the BY01 firmare with a write strategy change for 2x writing on UME-01 (low grade media) and also applied recommended media tweaks, enabled auto-bitsetting, multi-color led scheme, enabled cross-flashing, and increased DVD read speeds. Immediately after doing this I burned my first coaster, since then I tried many different firmware configurations to try and figure out what might fix the coaster burning problem, including trying disabling media learning, and reverting back to stock BY01 and stock BYX5 firmwares, none of which have done the trick, so now I am running stock BYX5 firmware and still burning coasters about half of the time. I began saving the error logs from nero 3 coasters ago and I have linked to them rather than pasting them here to keep this post short.

Nero API version: 7.0.1.2
Maybe you can try to search for an update to 7.0.1.4 or 7.0.1.4B at the Nero forum. These 2 versions seems to be the best so far. However, DON'T update to the latest of Nero 7.0.5.4 because that version has tons and tons of bugs.

You're missing some parts in the middle of the 2 above messages.

Below is what I have, again, it's taken from a "successful burned log of mine".

Again, it won't hurt to try other top notch media (i.e. YUDEN, Verbatim and Hitachi Maxell). Evidently, I've seen more failures from Ritek than any of the high quality I've mentioned.

Try lower down your burn speed to 4X next time. It is the best and most recommended speed for burning here at AD. However, the choice is yours. It is true that you can still burn at 8X with current firmware and any high quality media, but it is wise to burn at 4X to avoid getting "coasters".

Since your target/destination is G: your SONY DRU 710 burner with the blank (Ritek), it is definitely the media on this case, specially when it stated "KEY_MEDIUM_ERROR". Because your firmware is correct (BYX5), that's the same as mine. See above reply for other high quality media.

You need to dump that InCD driver or program, it won't do any good to you, especially if you have Nero on your system. It will only conflict with Nero, and therefore, you're likely to create "coasters". Go to Nero's website and get InCD clean tool to run and completely wipe out InCD from your system.

I think there is a possibility that the media (Ritek) you're using has some sort of defected dye. I know Ritek is decent, but lately I've seen tons of failured burns from Ritek when Newbies/members posted their Nero logs at the Nero forum or DVD Shrink forum. Maybe you can try other high quality media like YUDEN, Verbatim "advanced azo or datalife plus" or Hitachi Maxell (made in japan). I've used hundreds and hundreds (thousand) of these top notch media and I've never had any issues during playback or while I'm burning.

Below is a successful burned log taken from mine, you can compare yours to mine and see if you'll notice any differences. There are some in there (between yours and mine) that you can easily tell.
