I recently got dq8 and i am trying to back it up. i have the swap magic 3 plus thing, and i have done everything (or so i have seen)
to get it to work. I used dvd decrypter, iso buster, and burn with nero way (i followed the directions to the T) and it still didn't work.
does anybody with this program know how to do it, or am i screwed?

Explain your problem aq bit more... "it doesn't work" doesn't give enough info, do you mean it doesn't even boot up? or what?
Also, what modification do you have to go with the swap magic soft boot discs?

I did the dummy remove file.
I used the way explained,
dvd decrypter to iso buster (i removed and remade the dummy file) then i tried to use Nero to burn it.
i don't know what the problem is, I am using the "swap magic 3 plus" disks, and when i try to load it, it says invalid ps2 disk.

What mod are you using with your ps2 to stop it resetting.. eg, slidecard/aftermarket fliptop etc?
And I've never heard of magnavox... get some well known manufacturer good quality media like Taiyo yuden, verbatim or ritekg05 and try them.. just get a small pack or sampler to see what works best for you.

i am using ritekg05 it wasn't magnavox, it was memorex, sorry. lol
i have the ps2 v14 slim it has the flip top.
the thing is, i got it to work "partially" when i burned it with Nero, w/o any modifications to the file, (Before i rebuilt the dummy file) I backed up other games just fine, i know it is not the disks i am using, something is wrong with my setting on Nero burning rom se. I got the directions from on here, it gave me a step by step of what to do,

Ok fist thing first.. you said Quote: it's not the discs
Hate to disagree with you, but memorex suck, loads of people who come on here have the same opinion as I do too... even if you can get a game to work on them after a while the game will develop faults..
go and buy some of the media I said about earlier, it will save you a lot of trouble.

Yes I agree. You got lucky and got some Memorex which coded out as RitekG05. The best you'll get with Memosux is Ritek/Ricoh. The worst you'll get is CMC Mag. :( The media is almost certainly the problem here. Get some Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's.
86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?
A. http://www.supermediastore.com Great List of Merchants locally, online, in the U.K., etc:
http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/buyerguides/buymedia.htm
106. Q. Where I can find top notch Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media locally?
A. This is somewhat of a crap shoot. Big manufacturer's like Fuji, Sony, and Maxell have at one point past or present payed Taiyo Yuden to manufacture media for them. The big companies slap their name on the label even though the discs were manufactured in Japan by Taiyo Yuden. These discs will always be made in Japan. Authentic TY media isn't made anywhere else. Even if it says Made in Japan on the label, there is no gauruntee of getting authentic Taiyo Yuden media. You could still end up with Sony or Fuji media codes. Hence why I said this is a crap shoot. Places like Comp USA, Office Depot, Sam's Club, and Staples will carry Made In Japan branded discs. Again there is no way to know for sure from the package whether these are authentic Taiyo Yuden's. If you don't want to risk getting non TY discs, you can find 50 packs of Verbatim in the afore mentioned chain stores. One other alternative is the Made in Japan High Grade Maxell DVD+R's. They will say Made in Japan on the label and "High Grade" as well. These are excellent media. Remember when using DVD+R's, it's best you have a burner that supports booktyping/bitsetting, and a v.4 PS2 or later. Much thanks goes to kivory666 aka "docTY" for this information. He is indeed the Taiyo Yuden master. The best place to get authentic Taiyo Yuden media is from reputable online vendors like http://www.supermediastore.com http://www.rima.com http://www.meritline.com or http://www.newegg.com

I appreciate your imput, but it isn't the disks. I got a couple of Verbatim disks, and i tried 2 times to back up dragon quest 8. I am still having the same problems.
does the order of the files matter when i transfer them to Nero?
i am at a loss, i have tried a grand total of 20 times, to back up this game, i am about to give up.
