I just got swap magic 3.6 and the flip top and have installed it. But now I can't even get ANY of my games to work.
Here's what happens.
1st I put a game in
the PLAYSTATION 2 screen pops up.
then it flickers like its going to load the game.
then The playstation starts going tick tick tick tick tick real loud and I have to turn it off to get it to stop.
and it does it with my original games also. why would it do this?
(I know I put it in PS2 gen discusion. but I switched it here so I was in the right forum)

yes I'm putting the Swap magic disk in.
Sometimes the swap magic disk works but when I switch the disk and click X it starts the ticking thing and quits working. other times it won't even play the swap magic disk.
And when I put an original ps2 disk in there it does the ticking thing. and it only started doing it when I switched tops

If I remember correctly, a few people ahve had that problem after installing a fliptop.. I think if you loosen the screws in the bottom of the ps2 it might help, can't hurt to try it anyway.

The phone book sounds cheesy, but it may work, try it.

The phonebook or heavy object trick only works if the lid doesn't fit properly, and that's why the discs make a noise because they're lifting off the spindle... worth a shot though, it depends on what the noise is that he's hearing, that's what happened with my nephews console, it's pretty distinctive sound.. but if it's more of a whirring sound then I'd say it's an installation problem where the lid is too tight/wrong lid.. this might be able to be fixed by unscrewing the bottom a bit and gently lifting the top a little and then try again... if still no luck repaeat process a couple of times. Still no luck, take it off and start again from scratch....
All the above advice is only a guess as I obviously can't hear the noise your console is making.

I think I know what noise he is talking about. It happened to me before, I couldn't figure it out then one day it magicly vanished. It only happened to me with swap magic though.

Gonna go on a wim here...Did you put the white disc from your original ps2 in the fliptop lid. Cause it COULD be that.
