ok, im wanting to make backups for my ps2, do i use + or - media?
I have looked through the announcements, and although there is lots of useful medias and sites etc etc etc there is nothing saying what the difference between + or - is, or which is compatible with certain consoles etc?
The full potential of AWD was realised when Audi pilot Hannu Mikkola used an Quattro as a course opening vehicle for one rally. Had Mikkola been entered he would have won by 9 minutes.

ok thanks for your help, hopefully i will get to order my burner today, do you think this would be ok? I have a laptop you see, so obviously it would be more difficult to get an internal burner

if you dont think thats good enough, please reccomend another, as long as its external

If you want to go with DVD-R route, then just get any high quality media like Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim, then you'll be square away.
If you want to go with DVD+R route, then get Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo or datalife plus" and Hitachi Maxell (made in japan). In addition, make sure you "book type" or change the "bitsetting" into DVD-ROM format and that should take care of everything. Furthermore, make sure you your burner has the latest firmware; firmware increase the burning performances and media compatibility.
**NOTE: make sure your burner is capable of "book typing" or "bitsetting".

V.4 PS2's and later should read DVD+R's booktyped to DVD-ROM fine. If you're uncertain, go with DVD-R's, there's fewer compatibility issues. If you do go with DVD+R's, make sure your burner supports booktyping/bitsetting as Alkohol suggested.

Yes. The question is does your burner support booktyping/bitsetting?
If so, check here:
53. Q. What is Booktyping?
A. Booktyping is the ability to burn a DVD+R so it that appears as a pressed DVD-ROM in any DVD-ROM drive it's inserted in. If you booktype DVD+R's, this allows for greater compatibility with most stand alone DVD players, including your PS2. Your burner has to support booktyping (most newer ones do).

Hi guys,
I'm new here. anyway, I had some leftover maxell DVD+Rs, so I just used those went I first started backing up my games. I haven't had any problems yet and I have a fatty PS2. All my games work perfect. I used Nero and burned at 4x. Most likely, I'll buy some DVD-Rs when I need to resupply though.
