Are you positive you have an NTSC-Jap PS2? If so you won't be able to play NTSC-US games online.

You do indeed have a Japanese PS2. http://www.eurasia.nu/wiki/index.php?pagename=Ps2VersionTable
The only way you'll be able to play games online is with games that are NTSC-Jap. NTSC refers to video format, Japan refers to where the game was made. There's no way to play games from another region on your version PS2. So if your version of NBA Live 2006 is the Japanese version, you're okay. If not, then you need to find a copy of the Japanese version.

The console ID Changer only works on v.1-8 PS2's. He's already stated he has a v.12 Jap console.

It doesn't matter. It doesn't work with your version PS2. I am 100% sure on this.

Yes try Google. Yahoo search blows. I searched a little but didn't find anything. There's probably a list out there, you're just going to have to suck it up and do some searching.
