Okay long story short I had a pc that kept rebooting by itself since october last year, I bought a new mobo, problem went away for a little while then came back. Formatted windows, didnt do anything. Bought new psu, nothing, checked ram, nothing, bought video card checked nothing. Its not a virus as it rebooted while in the bios screen or on a boot disk. Then I was like "Hey why don't I just unplug the case switch that has the leds and reset and power switch on it." Once I did that the pc never rebooted for the rest of the day. Today it usually loves rebooting in the morning and it didnt. What can I do because I dont want to keep pluggin it back in just to turn the pc on. When the pc used to reboot the screen just went to stand by saying"power saving mode" then it came back on a second later showing the pc starting up like someone resetted it. I can't believe the problem was so simple yet it took me months to realize that. At times I just ignored it because it didnt reboot as often.

Well if it's a faulty connection in the switch (interpeting reset when nothing's been pressed due to the switch terminals shorting) i think you can leave the reset switch header off. if you can't then you can buy a new case, they're not expensive.

Yea thats what I want to do but I hate switching things around with the computer. It would be good If I could just buy a front case but I doubt thats possible. Im a leave the pc for a week and if doesnt reboot then I'll just get a new case. Im stil mad I couldnt solve this problem after about 5 months.

To be fair, I've never heard of this problem before, but we've shown it can happen, it's not impossible.

Ah good old ebay.
But really for what it's worth, you're better off with a new case than bodging it.

Put your Power Switch connector on your MB without the reset button or LED's and see what happens. Also make sure that they are on the actual pin they are supposed to be on.

Just the power switch ONLY. Once you fire up your PC, in BIOS set your bios under power where is says something like Last State to Power ON.

I cant do that as everything is just one plug. I would have to just buy a new switch header.

It's either a case or a separate switch. If you have a Radio Shack or CompUSA go and purchase a SINGLE header and use it on just the power pin or....

Buy a new case...

Your choice!
