So as I decided to risk my 2 DVD+Rs on it for the sake of "backing up" my "copy" of Grandia 3. I noticed the constant hype of 2 discs and whether or not it will work on the ps2 fliptop, what with the swap magic disc switch controversy. Well, the answer is this. Yes. You can do the Grandia 3 backup. There comes a cutscene then it asks you to save and insert disc 2 then reset. I'm glad to be of help and have answered this question for you all. And if this is any insight of the future of 2 disc RPGs for ps2(we have what, 1-2 years left in ps2 times? maybe?) hopefully all other games will require a ps2 reset after the save, leaving you able to back up your games. Enjoy! ^.^

There was no controversey whether this game would work with Swap Magic or not. This game works fine with Swap Magic. It allows a save in between discs. If you can't save in between discs with swap magic, you're screwed. There's only a handful of PS2 games like that, but they do exist. There's a bunch of PSX games like that. An example a of multi disc game that doesn't allow a save in between discs is Shadow Hearts 2.

If you knew that why didn't you post it in the thread when it came about? There's about 2-4 threads questioning whether or not they should try and back up grandia 3 because of the disc switch. I thought I was doing them a favor by making a thread they can all read but, sue me, being polite is a crime.

I did post that in a couple threads. I can't be responsible for people too lazy to search. Don't get defensive, I'm not insulting you. It's noble you want to help people. I've helped several, it's a good thing. I was merely stating I didn't understand the point of your post. Okay that's been clarified. Try to not get so mad when someone makes a statement. I get questioned all the time by people I could tear to shreds, but you have to patient (unless they get an attitude). So chill out, I'm glad you want to help people, and if this thread does, then its served its purpose. Cheers!

Thanks for the info. I had read a few threads and did not find a definite answer myself.

so your saying that this game is to be burned on 2 seporate discs, then when you are asked to load in disc 2, you just do the whole swap magic thing for disc 2 aswell?

I use (¯`·._.·[Verbatim]·._.·´¯)
Verbatim 8x 4.7gb DVD-R ======(P/N:94971)=======

You'll be asked to save and then after you save you reset your ps2. Then you put in your swap magic disc, reset your ps2, on the swap magic screen you put in disc 2 and load. On the Grandia 3 menu screen(load, settings, etc.) load your file and you can continue from disc 2. But yes you do burn both discs of grandia 3.

Yeah this game definitely allows a save between discs.
