PC Suite cable connection issues

Hi guys! I ordered that PC suite pack off the internet with Nokia PC Suite and a DKU5 usb cable. I've been using it fine but I put it in a few months later and my computer won't recognize the cable! It says USB controller and tells me I need to search for the proper files on the net. I say no and it won't connect to PC suite at all. Does this mean it's the cable or is it the program? Please help! Thanks
