I tried to backup my Monster-in-law. I used Dvd Decrypter, then CloneDvd2 2851 , then I tried DVD shrink 32015. Both times i got the message of successful write, but when I played them back it would play for a while the it would break up and freeze. I have backedup many dvds with these programs. Can some one tell me what could be the problem.

Poor quality media and/or burning too fast cause the majority of these type of playback problems....

Correct. It's not the programs. It's the media. I've been though this, so I know. Cheap media can be the problem. Sometimes you can go through almost a whole stack of them, and then--all of a sudden--poor quality. That's because the popular brands get their media from different sources. You need to buy direct from the manufacturer. This has been discussed in other forums here. Do a search on DVD media and you'll see. Also, burning speed is a factor. If you really want to use up those cheap disks, try burining REALLY slowly. They might come out o.k.

burn your media at max 8x. try using dvd +r and not dvd -r.

I find no reason to burn at a higher speed than 4X myself....

Coded CMCs are usually avoided due to quality issues....

greetings! was having similar problems. first one was cheap discs,i now only use verbatim.if you are using de-crypter to burn enable the verify after write feature.a suggestion when using shrink, enable deep analysis feature before encoding,i have found that it improves the quality of the final product.as far as burn speed goes i use 16x.my burner is a sony drx 710ul.i stopped burning coasters when i switched to good media!that is the best suggestion i have good luck and good burning!

dvd+r or DVD-R will make no difference in making a back up, so long as it is good media.
