Burnt my first movie using these programs and following a guide a member recommended. I only burnt the movie as per the instructions and ended up having the following problem. The movie does not start playing, automatically nor when I hit play. If I advance to the next chapter, and then rewind to the beginning, it works fine for the rest of the movie.

What did I do wrong?

For your info, I tried copying another one, this time with all the features on it and it starts to play automatically.

Sometimes when you edit a DVD this happens due to the structure being changed. I have had this happen a few times using CloneDVD2 that is why I went back to using Nero Recode2 with AnyDVD.

Make sure you are using the most current version of AnyDVD, it has FixVTS integrated into it to correct structure problems.

@Levi19

I dont recall anything special on redeye. I used AnyDVD and Decrypter to rip to HDD then used either Recode2 or CloneDVD2 cant remmber which 1 due to I use both. Worked for me on full backup with no problem.

Make sure you have AnyDVD updated. Make sure your disc is clean and scratch free. If you still have trouble it could be due to a bad press.

@WarrenC, are you making sure that "preserve menus" is checked off at the top of CloneDVD? I know if I burn a backup of a movie with tons of commercials, I select "copy dvd titles" instead of "clone dvd" in order to save some time un-selecting parts I don't want. And I know if you don't select "preserve menus" the disc is supposed to start right after you load it, BUT if you get an error at the start of the burn process, it can produce the symptoms you describe.

I hate movies without the menu, so I double check to make sure "preserve menus" is on.

Hope this helps.

Always looking for the good stuff.

What kind of media are you using ?

& at what speeds are you writing at ?

Never had a problem w/ Clone DVD....I used to back up movie w/ menus & extras, but that's just more chances for errors.

I just back up Movie Only now w/ no problems what so ever.

Also the backup process is faster now.

This is what works best for ME. For single layer back-ups with AnyDVD & CloneDVD 2, I select title only, Un-Check preserve menus, de-select all audio but English and definitely De-Select DTS. Thsi works "Flawlessly" for Me. Now for a Clone the Entire DVD. I leave it all there, including preserve menus.Who needs the menus anyway on a Movie Only back-up? What good is a Menu if the only thing there is the movie? It will start by itself anyway.

How come you de-select DTS ?

Don't you want DTS if you have a surround sound system ?

@dabig25

I select DTS if I am going to play the backup in my Home Theatre setup.

However, if the backup is going to be played upstairs in a TV/dvdplayer setup, I would choose the 5.1 (6-Channel) setting. If I played the DTS backup in this setup, I would have no sound, because the TV doesn't have a DTS decoder.

5.1 is AC3-6. I've only been using the trial for over 2 weeks, so just learning it myself.

I forgot your right.........AC/3.

I've selected DTS before & have had no problems w/ audio using a regular progressive scan dvd player.

After your trial I strongly suggest buying it.

CloneDVD w/ Any DVD = Awesome combo.

Also using Any DVD w/ Nero Recode.

I played a DTS backup in the TV/Dvdplayer combination. No sound. This is a Progressive scan/DTS compliant dvd player. If I'm not mistaken, don't you need both.......DTS compliant dvd player AND receiver?

Not sure..

I played a backup of Walk the Line last night w/ DTS with no problems.

I do have a surround sound sysytem, but did not turn it on while watching it.

Just had dvd player hooked up to 51 in. Hitachi, alone.

No surround sound.

Are you 100% sure you copied the DTS sound track, because none of my DTSs will work on a TV /dvdplayer setup. Does your Hitachi have "DTS" on the front? My equipment is fairly old compared to today's. I know some big screen TVS come with a fairly good speaker system in them, I haven't really paid much attention as to whether they were DTS compliant or not.

On the original dvd, it says: " DTS offers up to 5.1(or more) channels of high quality audio whch can ONLY be accessed utilizing a DTS decoder and DTS compliant Dvd player. Do you wish to continue?" Some are worded a bit differently.
