Go to control panel (in XP select classic view in left hand section), select add/remove programs, select Add/Remove windows componets, scroll down and click on check box next to Outlook Express(sucks). Now follow dialog boxes and never install it again. You are better off checking you mail through the internet anyways. Try goole mail, aka gmail. I have 2.7 gigs of free space to store e-mails. I can save every last one of then and sotr as i wish. (not an advertisement). I love gmail!

P.S. If you want to reinstall Outlook Express again just follow my directions (except for the never install it again part).

If you like email clients on your computer, you might want to give Thunderbird a try.

It's easy to set up, free, with lots of helpful tips, themes, plugins...pretty much the same to use as FireFox is to Internet Explorer.

Add/Remove Windows Components, will only disable OE...MS never truly uninstalls it's own software from the system. (Outlook Express, Internet Explorer, Windows Messenger)

Incredimail is another good one to use. It has animations to let you know when you get email. And all kinds of goodies including junk filter. You get a trial membership, but have to pay for the goodies.

Also Mort you can remove o.e.anything from windows. But you have to remove it from the install disc and fire up a new copy of windows without the stuff..:>

What you have to remember is that certian web mail servers do not support routing mail to Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook. I am lucky. I signed up with Hotmail before they stopped letting you do that. New subscribers to Hotmail can not read thier mail through Outlook without payig for it. If you can read it through Outlook, do it! Bottom line: Some clients support Outlook and some do not.

Resistance is futile! You will be assimilated!

@ozzy214 - You can also do a great job of removing OE/IE or WM components if you modded the sysoc.ini file to reveal hidden components. However, the shared files remain regardless! Oh, and sorry...we'll agree to disagree on Incredimail. :)

@raceman - Yeah, unfortunately, MSN and Yahoo have to be paid for in order to use OE, or Outlook to retrieve mail nowadays. Thunderbird cannot access MSN/Yahoo because of proprietary protocols. AOL can be access thru Thunderbird however.

I never had a problem with incredimail and love it. Even has a bounce feature so yeah can bounce email back to the spammers.

I was talking bout doing it from inside windows. I was talking bout modifying your installation disc. I have sucessfully removed internet explorer and windows media player. Shit I dont need. Nlite has these options and it does remove it from yeah install disc. Not hide. I have my own custom install cd where ie and windows media player are gone, but winamp pro and FireFox are in its place.
