I am using a MATSHITA UJ-840D 1.03 (ATA)and Memorex DVD+R DL.
I have the lastest firmware update and I understand that Memorex DVD's are not the top of the line, but I have 25 of them so I would like to use them.
I am trying to burn a dvd that creates a VIDEO_TS folder of 7.04GB
When using CloneDVD2 version 2.8.8.2 I have tryed to burn the DVD using the VIDEO_TS folder and also using an ISO file and it always says:
Source data too large
WriteDVD 14 W2
So then I tryed to burn the ISO file with DVD Decrypter and it stopped at exactly 50% with an error message.
After my first attempt I created a MDS file like they suggested doing at http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/186923
then I tryed to burn the DVD again and it again stopped at 50% with the same error message and then finalized the disc. Here is what it said in DVD Decrypter after finalizing the disc:

Yes I did try to click the mds file to burn the image. DVD Decrypter didn't work with the ISO image created with CloneDVD2 or the one made with Folder2Iso but I actually got it to work when I just used DVD Decrypter to create the ISO file and Burn it.
Is there anyway to burn DL DVD+R with CloneDVD2?

Did you change the the setting size in the box to DVD9? Just did a dual layer backup today of Walk the Line, and Clone worked out well. You will get this error if you have not changed the size.

My CloneDVD2 version 2.8.8.2 (I'm actually downloading 2.8.9.2 right now) doesn't have a DVD-9 option. It has DVD +/-R DL. I selected that one and it still wouldn't work.
What type of DL DVD did you use? Memorex, Verbatim, etc.?

I use Verbatim or Ritek dual layer media, Memorex are not exactly the best. You can get some good, some not Memorex is too inconsistent. Try it again with the latest Clone and see if it works, the updates have given better support for dual layer. Yes make sure you choose the dual layer media in the settings. If you got it to work with Decrypter then you know your drive is working, actually using Decrypter to rip in iso then using the MDS file which contains all the disk info and using either Decrypter or it's new improved burning program ImgBurn is really a good way to go, it is reliable.

@Ireland Yea I got the same thing. What's up with that.
Back on topic-- You may have 25 of the memorex and I'm sure they cost you but why put good info or backups on a media you probably won't be able to read later. Go with verb dl and you won't be let down. Mark the memosux down to experience and garbage them suckers. My opinion only.

The error certificate thing that popped up at the beginning when trying to enter this site was becasue of the image I had loaded. It was on a web site thru my college that for some reason does that. Sorry! I removed the picture so everything should be fine now.

Scuse me woody 107 ... a little but important question!
Do you use a matshita UJ-840D, not 840S, inside a notebook with 1.03 firmware revision ??? (which notebook ? ASUS, HP, ... ?)
A lot of people (... also I !!) are asking for a firmware update of this drive (actually only 1.00 is aviable for all OEM, except SONY)!!
So if you are sure that you have 1.03 firmware revision for matshita UJ-840D (for example using "nero infotool" or another utility)let me know ... I will tell this to the guys of "The Firmware Page" !
THX a lot (scuse my poor english ...i'm italian!)

Thx Woody for the fast replay and the compliments!
Be careful to say Matshita uj-840D (half world needs an upgrade for this drive!!! lol)
Yours is Matshita uj-840S (infact firmware updates are aviable only for Sony OEM) ... but is quite strange that your "dvd infopro" says D instead of S ... very strange
ThX again!
