Just a quick question for you, do you have a 60gig iPod and firmware version 1.1? If that's the case then you should downgrade your firmware to 1.0 to avoid the problem completely.

hmmm.. not sure what couldve happened there. if it happens it again, reset it. or, fast forward by pressing select while the video is playing until the video progress thing shows up, then you can fast forward by scrolling with the clickwheel.

What Jazo was asking is when was the last time you updated the firmware on your iPod, when you connect your iPod to your computer, and have an internet connection, it will prompt you to update your firmware if you have an older version. The firmware sounds like it's your problem though. You can find out how to downgrade it here: http://www.ipodwizard.net

Does anyone know how to go about checking their firmware version? This would be good for us to know so we can more accurately ask people what version of firmware they have.

To confirm it as a firmware problem, could you check if your video plays properly in iTunes? I'm almost certain it is a firmware issue though, as you've related it directly to fast fowarding, which means the video plays fine without fast fowarding correct?

well, if you got your ipod before january, then you already have firmware 1.0, which will not be a problem.

If you continue without any problems, then the fast-forwarding problem may just have been a one-off occurrence. See how it goes. If your problem reappears/persists, then post back & I will continue to assist you ;-)

Kannek, have you downgraded your iPod yet? The 1.1 firmware version is the main cause of video playback issues with videos transcoded using third party applications. If you don't want to downgrade using iPodwizard, you can simpy download the iPod updater 2005-11-17 (Containing firmware version 1.0) from here

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y44N4BER

and 'restore' your iPod. After that, add your videos to your iPod once more, and your video playback issue should be solved :-)

*note - restoring the iPod erases all data.

If you keep your songs just on your iPod, you wont have them any more. Your files need to be backed up somewhere. If you keep your songs in iTunes then you should be fine to restore your iPod, just next time your connect it to your computer it needs to load your collection again. This can take some time depending on how many songs/videos you have but isn't a major obstacle.

Thanx, I thought I would lose everything. Quick question, since my computer right now is kinda broken and i need to get a new computer, would it be smart to save all i can on itunes and then get a new computer and save all I can on itunes and put the disk in. If I do so will I get my things from itunes back?

If you follow my stickied iPod to computer guide, then you will have no problem backing up your tracks/videos.

That method won't work at all, not even sort of. The iTunes disc just contains iTunes. If you wanted you could back up your library to discs but that would take numerous blank discs [depending on the size of your music collection] Do as Lethal's suggested and check his guide. It shows you exactly how to put your music from your iPod onto your computer.

No. You can't increase HDD space with software. You need to either add a hard drive, upgrade your current hard drive, or buy a USB Portable hard drive. I recommend the latter..

You can buy an external hard drive from any good PC retail outlet. Here's a link to the kind of thing you should be looking towards..
