my games always freeze when I play them for about 45 minutes or longer. I don't think it's the media I'm using because I've tried Maxell, Sony and Fuji-Film DVD+Rs and I get the same results. I'm also burning at 4x.
Anyone know what I can do?

have you tried any -R DVD's? Could be that the laser just has a problem reading the +R.
But if it gets hot like mentioned by sly, that could also cause you problems.

I never noticed it getting too hot. It's a version 7 PS2, I guess I'll try burning on -R DVDs.

you should not have a problem with overheating on a V7 at all. It is just with the newer slim models.
My V7 hates +R media. You can try -R or try booktyping the +R you have to DVD-Rom with DVD Decrypter if your burner supports that feature.
Booktyping to DVD-Rom can help as that is the most compatible format and what original PS2 games are.

ok thanks, sometimes i find myself asking questions i dont really need to know the answer for lol.

I'm just after all bits of knowledge I guess before I try stuff out on PS2.

it first depends on your dvd burners capabilities only few burners can actually booktype, vist this link to know all you need to know about booktyping
