I burned my copy to YUDEN000, Sony Branded Taiyo Yuden MIJ DVD+R's booktyped to DVD-ROM. It plays perfectly on my v.4 PS2. Those Fuji's may not be as cheap as you think, if they're Made in Japan they could be Taiyo Yuden's. Run them through DVD Idenitifer to find out:

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_tools/dvd_id...

I have two working copies of this, one I downloaded, another backed up from an original. I burned them to both Yuden000T02 (Taiyo Yuden DVD+R's) booktyped to DVD-ROM. They both play perfectly. Most likely, this is a cheap media issue. Pick up some Taiyo Yuden's or Verbatim's.
