I bought a Pioneer DVD R+- RW for $69 (Aus) soo I dont know anything better than that I love Pioneer Drives they are the best i have 2 :)

I'm going to recommend the BenQ DW1655. Less than $60 shipped (US). I've been getting excellent results with TY media. 99% Nero CD/DVD tests. Plus you can booktype +R media so it will work in almost every stand alone.

I got on ebay a Nec 3550A for $40, shipping included. Flashed with latest Liggy's firmware to be able to booktype. I've been a happy burner for some time!
