I want to try Azureus for the 1st time {usually use Bitcomet}. I am confused on which ports i should use.
OK first i went here
"J-Kwons *NEW* Ulitmate Bit Torrent Guide a must for any torrenter! (Links and pics)"
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/229385
this is what it said :
Quote:
When opening ports here are some commmon ports that may want to open, if you want to get optimal speeds

Client Port
TCP, UDP

Azureus: 6881
but according to Portforward.com
http://www.portforward.com/
I should do this :

Quote:
In the menu tree on the left hand side of this window Connection should be selected. Pick a random port between 49152 and 65535. Then enter that port into the Incomming TCP/UDP Listen Port box. When you are done, be sure to click the Save button at the bottom of the configuation screen
maybe someone can shed some light on this problem im having
any advice would be appreciated
Thanks to all that reply

port 6881-6889 are blacklisted by most trackers, the only time u should use those ports is when told to for router configuration.

Are u behind a router?, if not using high port #'s is best.

No sig for u!.

Do exactly what portforward.com tells u to do (find the make and model of ur router, it will be listed at portfarward), if u have any speed issues its probably due to ur router config. Those ports need to be opened for optimum speeds.

;-D

Thanks for the help.
All happyfaces Downloading at an average 200kbs,
saw it go up to 500kbs a few times.
Although with Bitcomet I got DLs up to 800kbs. Im gonna try it later tonight to see how much faster its gonna go. my DL speeds are higher at night.
Also with Azureus they got that whole ratio thing it gets kind of annoying. Bitcomet dosent, atleast i dont think it does.
Dont get me wrong I do my fair share of seeding/ uploading but i dont want to be reminded of it every single time im in the program. I wonder if theres a way you can turn that off?

I use two clients for downloading.

”Torrent, for my private sites (wich I suggest over azureus) and Bitcomet for my public downloads. As bitcomet doesnt fully turn off DHT and that messes w/ the private trackers.

But I'm glad u got it working ;-D

heres a link for utorrent incase ur wondering ;)
