I went to the sony website & updated to the latest version firmware but how can i get it to booktype dvd+r's to dvd-rom??

I used Nero CD-DVD Speed, Extras tab/bitsetting/....

I also have a Sony DRU530UL. It does not support bitsetting....

bilbo65 is correct. The first sony to bitset was the DRU-700. Most sony drives prior to that had a sony or sanyo chipset and were not capable of bitsetting. Sony DRU-700 through DRU-800 have a mediatek chipset and are capable of bitsetting (rebadged lite-ons). The sony DRU-810 has a phillips chipset and is capable of bitsetting also (rebadged benq).
