KHS-400C Laser can't read DVD+R?

Hi, I have just bought and installed a KHS-400C laser into a V4 ps2 to replace my KHS-400B laser. Everything is reading correctly except for the fact that it can't read DVD+R's? More than 70% of my backups are with DVD+R's and if this laser can't read it, I will have to rebackup everything. Can anyone tell me if it's true?

I did a little research and found this

Description:
If your PS2 seems to have problems reading discs, loading times are now longer, or if you see flickering/skipping while reading DVD movies, then most likely your laser lens is damaged. With this replacement laser lens you will give your console a second life and all those problems will be solved.

The KHS-400C laser is compatible with all consoles from V2-V8*. (except those which use the KHS-400B laser - larger block) You will need to check your current laser, as there are two types for these consoles. The KHS-400C laser is enclosed in plastic, some PS2's require a Sanyo type 'R' laser which is not encapsulated by plastic.

Now you can make your console like new again with this replacement laser!
