I bought an AMD FX 60 and need a mobo to go with it. Ive looked at some on newegg but cant seem to make up my mind. the comp im buildin is gonna be mainly for gamin...

A8N-SLI Premium or Deluxe model, thats the one that i would go for. have a look for it, it blows the rest out the water.
System 1 :- Main PC: AMD XP 3200+ - OC Slightly 2.31Ghz, 1024 MB DDR PC2700, 1 x 40GB Hard Drive, 1 x 60GB Hard Drive, ATI 9600XT (256 MB)Graphics Card.

Hi and dont forget you may have to reflash the bios with the newest version maybe maybe only cause that cpu is like the newest thing out but yea it shall work

If I have a ATI graphic card will it run with a Nvidia north bridge or would it preform better if I had a ATI north bridge?

No difference, they don't work like that. The only difference is you need an nvidia chipset to use SLi and you need an ATi chipset to use crossfire. If you're just going to use one GPU it doesn't really matter.

eparker89: 8 channels is technically better then 6 channels. Both are suitable for most people.
8 = 7.1 Surround Sound capability.
6 = 5.1
Though in all honesty, I wouldn't rely on onboard audio if you're going to be doing any audio intensive tasks like gaming, etc.
As for Biostar, I've HEARD of them, however they're not really regarded as one of the top brands. Though they seem to be pretty reliable according to reviews.
Edit: Just looked above. To my knowledge there is no Dual 939 Pin motherboard. There are however Dual 940 Pin, Opteron motherboards. eparker, if you're interested in dual processors in a 939 solution you might want to check out the Dual Core AMD 64 X2's, cause that's what they essentially are. The A8N-Sli's (and other motherboards alike) only support dual GPU's, Graphic Cards, Videocards, whatever you want to call 'em. And ontop of that the ASUS A8N-SLI is for nvidia dual carding only. That's not to say you can't put one ATI PCI-Express card in it, but you would't be able to dual card it. =D
darkred: Premium is the better model, though you are correct in them seeming very similar. The main differences are:
* Premium uses a heatpipe where Deluxe uses a fan to cool the chipset
* Premium SLI configuration is in the BIOS where Deluxe uses the traditional SLI-mode card
* Premium has one PCI-e x1 slot and one PCI-e x4 slot; Deluxe has two PCI-e x1 slots.
It's all up to your tastes. I personally use an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe due to a shipping mistake by Newegg. (I ordered and payed for a normal A8N-SLI and got a Deluxe by mistake.)

Hey there wdowsing, I got a question for you, how does the Sempron 2500+ go? Is it as good as the old Athlon 2600? oh and also how come you use PC2700 DDR?

hay, the sempron runs good been on for 24/7 for past 3 months and its still going lol. The reason i got pc2700 in both of my machines is because i f**Ked up when ordering but i havent been bothered to sort it out and probley never will. But the 2500 runs pretty quick espcaally now im using it until i gt my laptop back.

With regard to the motherboards, go premium, it's cooled better, and obviously silently and is chock full of features.
Semprons, whilst not the fastest CPUs in the world, are more than adequate and outperform celerons, especially in 64-bit Palermo form.
The only occasion I would recommend onboard audio is with an asus a8n-sli motherboard (whether standard, se, deluxe or premium). With these boards it's very good quality, but with most other boards you're far better off sticking in a cheap OEM PCI sound card. Besides, usually these have more ports, some with MIDI facility.

When we're talking about any type of RAID, it's referring to a process of grouping multiple hard drives together so that they'll act as one large drive. This helps speed up access times, protects against data loss and helps with computer performance, like loading up programs from the HD etc.
PATA is Parralel ATA, it's an older method of RAID'ing. It's kinda a pain in the ass, in the fact that to RAID the HD's you need to daisy chain them off of each other. Plus the cables used are kinda bulky. The newer technology, SATA (Serial ATA) is worth it if you want to RAID your HD's. It's faster at 150 Mbps vs PATA's 133 Mbps, higher bandwidth and other technicalities.
I'd say, that it's nice to have but don't go and buy a MOBO just for PATA. If you're gonna do something like that, make sure it has SATA atleast. Both are not necessary unless you plan to RAID however.
What I would recommend is getting a motherboard with SATA connections in general. The Mobo doesn't have to support SATA RAID unless you want it to, but I'd recommend connecting all HD's in the future via SATA. It's faster then the standard IDE cabling and less bulky.
When you ask is something worth it, we kinda need a reference to tell you whether it is or isn't. What're you planning to use this computer for?

The ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe isn't listed as supporting dual-core proccessors but the ASUS A8N-SLI is. Does anyone know if the ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe supports dual-core technology?
