xvid to divx or mpg---no audio!!!! Please help!!

I've got a prolbem with encoding xvid file to divx or mpg... The picture seems ok but there is no sound after i code it. For instance i have xvid file, 2 hours long, audio : 448 kbps, video: 23fps,
data rate: 185 kbps, etc. It runs ok in player, vobsub runs ok and subs are displayed in a player. But when i try to premanently add subtitles in TMPGenc, i can get no audio. If the file i try to encode, has an audio in MP3 everyhting works fine, but if it has other audio (for instance this one that dosent have a codec name only bitrate) it dosent work. Please help, and sorry for this long text! Thanks!

That AVI might have AC3 audio. Open the AVI with VirtualDub and do File___File information.
If the audio is AC3 you must have a plugin (there's a commercial one for TMPGenc Xpress)
