hi guys i got a question about install another hard drive , already got one in the pc hp 530j pentium 4 , sata 200 gb and i want to know if i can install another of sata350 gb, already check my pc inside and i see 4 conector with the name sata , but i dont see place to holding , the 200 is hook in the front , the 350 i dont know were to placed,, ???????????????
ata means sata ?
let me know if a need extra programs or something , thanks !!!!

im thinking that u have a hp minitower and most of them only holds 1 internal 3.5 bay and from the information u said u have a 200 giga sata hardrive so im guessing thta 1 is in use, well the only option u got is if u want more memory just buy a 500 sata and replace the 200 with that :( u can also try to see if u got external bay slots open and try to install it there but im not really sure if that will work :(

ok , minitower ? thats mean small?
i dont know about that , it dont look mini , lol , i got the slot from the zip drive , but i think is small ., one guy tollme leave in the bottom if you can conect all the cables , just leave in the bottom , but i dont know how install , like i supoust to install the window in that hd too???? i was reading some thing say slave o i dont know , but im keep loking some amswers , thanks

Hi guys,
Very challenging to understand you, but I think you need somewhere to physically place a new HD?
There are usually always three 3.5" bays, with one (or two) accessable externally ie. 3.5" floppy.
But if you install two HDs and also have a floppy or zip etc. in place, things will get mighty warm!
It would be better to get a coupla metal harddrive rails ($5 bucks),

these will let you mount a standard HD into any 5.25" bay.
ATA = traditional (parallel) ATA
SATA = Serial ATA, with individual dedicated cables and no more master/slaves.

well we need morei info on your pc, it looks to me that u do not have any 3.5 internal bays open, that weres hard drives go, u said u want to install it were ur zip drive goes, well most zip drives are like hard drives 3.5 but the only difference zip drives go in external 3.5 bays to have acess in the front and it is not recomended adding a hard drive in an external bay cause it exposes it to light static, etc well thats unless if u keep the front part covered, u can also ass a hd case to protect your hard drive im not really sure about that never bought one my self.:) but the drive u have like u said is a SATA it is the newwest generation of hard drives faster and more releable. there is no need to change the jumpers on sata drives like other older type of harddrives there is no need for master or slave settings.all u need is your new hard drive it should come with its conector to conect to the motherboard but u also will need an extera power cord wich most of the time dont provide with the hard drive kit you will have to buy it separate.

ok guys i give a try , its gona to be inside , whit the cover , so that work right ! or in gona to buy the rails or something ,and hook the new in the top of te other one , , i got to install all programs in the new too ? like windows or something?
i dont have the floopy or zip i just got the slot , i got external zip
