Hello, I just started buring PS2 Apps/ISOs using DVD Decyper and Alcohol 120% I was using RW DVD+R CDs. They worked so so, Kingdom Hearts II works PERFECT, games like Sonic Riders skipped alot along with Naruto 3. Then I moved to Sony DVD-R, they worked very very badly... no game worked perfect BUT Tales of Legendia, and even still the music would fade in and out. (note, Im buring all of these games at x4)

Then today I got these Verbatim DVD-R, I hear these are almost perfect.. I burned Sonic Riders and Naruto.. to find that the load times are even longer than normal.. and still the Sonic riders music fades in and out .. and skipping.......... What am I doing wrong?!?! HELP ME PLZ!

Where did you get the disc at? There are some places online that sells fakes.

Also, when you are burning the disc, do you have programs running in the background?

I'm a noob

i do not know about best buy maybe someone else can help you with that,
but when burning dvds make sure you switch of ALL programs in the background including firewalls and unplug your internet, this is so that your freeing up your systems ram.
and also what is the media id or the manufacturers id of the disk you are using

ok the manufacturer who makes it will stamp a manufacturers id into the dvd,
to find out the manufacturers id open up dvd decryptor and on the right hand side where all the text is and fnd this,

Manufacturer ID:

copy and paste your results onto here so that we can tell if they are fakes or what,
okay hope this helps mate.

They are, in fact Verbatim's. The problem that you might be having is because they are 16X and you are burning at 4X. A lot of people have had problems with 16X DVD's for games.

You might want to get some 8X and use the 16X for movies.

whatever speed media you get always burn at half the maximum write speed, so if they are 8x disks burn them at 4x.
likewise those 16x disks you have try burning them at 8x,
although the best disks are actualy 8x disks that you burn at 4x
if the 16x disks dont work at 8x write speed, get some 8x verbatim discs and burn at 4x.
hope this helps

I got the Virtabrim x8 DVD-R CDs. I also Picked up Virtabrim x1-x8 DVD+R dvds, the + ones didnt seem to work good.

The Virtabrim X8 DVD-R seems to work great.. but still sonic riders's audio keeps fading out. Also with Naruto 3, the music in game stops all of a sudden.. Whats wrong? Do I need to rebuild the game? Or am I buring wrong? I burned at x4...

thats right the +r discs shouldnt work as well as they arent that compatible with ps2s whereas the -r discs are. although if your burner supports booktyping, you can changing the booktype of your +r disks to dvd-rom which is the most compatible with ps2s,
anyway about rebuilding the games, you should only need to rebuild them if you have swap magic, and that is if only the iso is between 4.36-4.38 although it does vary between diffrent games,
if you have a modchip then of course there is no reason to rebuild any games, but it would help to run them more smoothly.
what form of modification do you use?

other things to take note of are:
make sure you shut down all programs while burning and even unplug the internet to free up some ram,
update you firmware regularly to unlock new feature and to generally burn better, heres where to upgrade the firmware http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php
and try applying the the wnaspi32.dll patch to help your ripping and burning speeds, paddymails guide should help you with that one heres the link http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/288475
and burn with dvd decryptor as it usually burns better,
if all of this doesnt work im gonna slap you (just joking) hehe
okay hope this helps.

well different ps2's like different media,
what was the media id of those disks you now use,
you do realise if they are some shitty brand like cmc mag then your games will eventually start to lag, freeze, also rubbish quality disks destroy the laser inside of the ps2,
did you check the media id of those verbatims to see if they were original or fake,

Thanks.. I noticed all the games work now... Still sonic riders is being a bitch.. but I think its cause its a DVD rip rather then a DVD full iso...

Are you using labels for the DVD's as these are known to cause issues, also it might just be your burner not liking decent media as I own a Samsung SHW162C and won't give me decent burns on Verbatims and Taiyo Yudens however my Liteon gives me great burns (90 PIF over 4.38gb DVD-R) with TY's and Verbs.

PS The Verbatims are very unlikely to be CMC MAG's as they made that mistake once and have since gone back to there old ways and even better teamed up with Taiyo Yuden for some aswell. (As far as I'm aware only in good ol' England)

your wrong about the verbatims,
i know theyve switched to pure dyes now but the last pack of verbatims i bought were cmc mag and that was from a local dealer although i did get a refund even though i had already used one dvd.
just letting you know there are still cmc's floating around but those cmc mag verbatims were made in taiwan, are verbatims supposed to be made in japan, just for future reference when i go out to buy verbatims

I know that CMC MAGS are still floating around, what I meant was that they have learnt there lesson and since joined forces with TY (TYG02) for some and gone back to MCC's for others.

PS wouldn't know what origin MCC Verbatims are made as I only really purchase the Verb(TYG02) and solo Taiyo Yuden(TYG02).

But if you live in England I'v got a site where all media codes are viewable before purchase and every single pack of TYG02 has GG000*** (mark of authenticity) laser etched on the inner hub.

Yes that is actually who I was going to recommend as the delivery is very fast aswell as you being able to actually select a brand to view instead of scrolling down hundreds of different Datawrites. LOL
