Hi all.

After picking up a virus I reformated the HD and placed WinXP Pro on the computer with 2 partions.

I have the recovery disc (DVD) which came with the machine.

It loads up and then tells me to check the model number....ie it will not reconize the machine.

I have written to Sony via their e-support and have had a reply to the effect "The team have decided that the computer may be faulty" and that they will 'phone me ??? .

The computer is about 2 years old from new and the recovery disc states it is for the RS series which mine is, and all that has been done to the machine is a reccomended bios upgrade.

It came with with WIN XP home edition on it.....you can see all the stuff on the disc but it will not unpack???.

All I lack at the moment is the GigaPocket software but can't get to it.????.

How Sony can say it may be a computer fault is beyond me....what fault can there be??? othere then their bios upgrade???.

What kind of tin opener do I need to unpack the disc???.

Any advice would be appreciated please.
