Hi all

Im building my own computer and my only worry is will parts be compatible with one another?

im spending a lot of money on this machine so i ideally want to get it right the first time round.

My question is how can I tell if parts will be compatible with one another?

Cobe, that's like telling us you're jumping in with the sharks, but don't know how to swim yet!

Compatibility isn't really an issue...starting off with the motherboard you plan on buying, you go from there. It will have the specs of all the other parts that can go with it.

Best place to start is do you want to go AMD or Intel.
Then get the correct socket MB, from a good manufacturer.
Go to the correct website and start reading, then read some more until you are sure what your getting is okay and is of the spec you require.
If all you intend to do is wait for someone else to tell you what to buy , then you may as well just buy a pre-built system.
There is more than enough info around to let you know what to do.
These might help get you started.

Cobe, ATi cards will only work as a pair on a crossfire enabled mobo's & Nvidia cards will only work as a pair on SLi enabled mobo's ....
The A8N32 is a SLi mobo so the ATi cards won't work as a pair so you'll have to get a pair of Nvidia 6/7 SLi series cards or change the mobo for a crossfire skt 939 mobo

excellent..well..problem solved then..

couple more things..

Is the nVIDIA GeForce 7900 card better than the Radeon X1900XTX?

I always thought that Radeon made better cards although ive only ever bought nVIDIA.

I basicaly want the best fps and Graphics possible

and another noobish question coming up.. what is Overclocking your system? and how would one go about it?

The X19 & 79 series of cards are pretty close to each other but i think the X19 just nudges in front on IQ . They are both awesomely powerful cards with pro's & con's, so which ever you choose you won't be dissapointed.
I'm still amazed at the performance of my 7800gtx :0
