i have backed up Fight Night Round 3 using Verbatim 16x DVD+R and burned at 2.4x(slowest my computer could go). I followed directions posted by rustyfanz way back in dec.'04 from when I did a search. I just put a flip top on my ps2 and bought swap magic 3.6. When I swap discs and put in Fight Night 3 the laser makes a lot of noise and there is only a black screen, I got really worried it was going to break my ps2 so I ejected the disc. Tried multiple times and finally 1 time it made noises, went black but then a Fight Night Round 3 load screen came up but then the laser starting making a lot of noise again so I ejected.

Ok, this is my 1st time using swap magic, and I read on here that the brand/type of DVD's you use for backups is very important. Since a load screen came up am I using the right DVD's? Why is my laser making so much noise? Also I downloaded Fight Night Round 3 of a BitTorrent site if that matters. Can someone help me so that I dont break my ps2.

i think 2.4X may be too slow for a 16X DVD
I think the brand you have is fine, but i would get a noce 8X DVD
and burn it at 4X

You may want to try the 16X burned at 4X first.
and i assume that the download you had was and ISO or a rar file which you extracted to get the ISO?
a fliptop will make a little more noise than the stock top for sure.
I have also know too many flip tops that you are not able to screw in the screws on the bottom of the PS2 (older chunky version)
or it will be too tight and not load discs correctly.

ok thanx for the reply steimy...i just thought i remember someone saying to burn at slowest speed possible. Ill try it at 4x. I might try to take out the screws and see if that does anything

And yes it was a RAR file that i extracted to get an ISO file.

These noises are really loud though...it almost sounds like its scratching the disc...its a repetitive up and down noise (if that makes sense) like the laser is going nuts and doesnt know what to do.

any other advice?

So far Swap Magic lets me play the import games and tissue mod was convenient as well..... I am using SwapMagic 3.6 with tissue mod to play my import games. God of War and Resident Evil 4 gets stuck at later stages, I believe that its TOC reasons. Can you suggest how can I refresh the TOC mechanism. As with the tissue mod, even when i eject the lid, the disc still moves.

Any suggestions would be gr8.
