I have a simple question here, yes I've done a search and still couldn't find an answer.

Is there is a way to remove the region lock from a DVD media? not the DVD player itself because I want to play the backup DVD on my standard DVD player.

I was wondering if I could create an image of the DVD and then remove the lock from the image and burn it on a new DVD.

As soon as you rip it to your HD using Smartripper* it has been made region-free.

If it's a DVD-9 your backing up you will need to compress your movie files slightly...using DVD2One (or the like)

Then burn...out pops region-free DVD-R !

* (Smartripper needed to unencrypt DVD aswell as ripping).
