Half newb here, I read SO many forums and couldn't find the answer.

I have 3 HUGE avi's on my computer, all of which are home video's, and I want to get them onto one dvd disc with a menu i've made in Adobe Encore 2.0. Encore CAN'T create an oversized DVD Image, or else i'd be fine. it cuts me off at 4.5Gb, so i assume i can make the vob's separately in 3 separate images, then dvdshrink them each, and then combine just the vob's back together in a 4.5g dvd image with a complete menu.
(What I've tried so far)
So, I authored a complete dvd image with the main menu and 3 dummy video's 15, 10 and 5 seconds apart (so i can tell the difference) using Encore, which made an image about 32mb. Then, using the same project in encore (duplicated), i replaced the 1st dummy video with the 1st home video.avi, and made the image, 4.5G. I then compressed the new "homevid1-disc" image with dvdshrink, extracted the new smaller image with isobuster and copied the vob (now 1.8G instead of 4.5) into the first image "menu w/ 3dummies" extracted folder, overriding the 1st dummy-vob. it played on the dvdplayer, until the first chapter point, then the dvd player can't read the disc anymore and it stops.

if anybody knows the answer, i would be SO obliged! I've spent a week with tons of different prog's, but i can't figure this puzzle out! I tried IfoEdit, but it says the vob is invalid (because it's from a different image??)
HELP!!!

After you have it in .VOB state, why don't you re-author with DVD Shrink, and at the same time it will compress it to 4.3GB, and then have it burn with DVD Decrypter?

Good luck,

i tried briefly to reauthor with dvdshrink, which i've never done before, but when i tried to carry my menu over from the vts folder, it said it couldn't reauthor the menu's, and that it would have to convert them all to short video files if i wanted to reauthor them. I got the impression that it could only reauthor different vob's together, but that's it. no menu's.
if i'm wrong, and you know a link to a guide that would help, or could help yourself, that would be a BIG help.
thanks in advance

You are correct, when re-authoring in Shrink, you will lose all menus, but that is better than nothing I would think.

Here's some guides, Guides---> http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136

I believe DvdReMake could be your answer, http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremake/index.php

They have demo version you can download to see if it is to your liking.

Best regards,

Rich

thanks guys for the help
i've tried dvdremake and the only problem with that is it wont preserve my original menu which lets you choose WHICH movie you want to watch. I might have to go that route tho it looks.
I found a link however that leads to Nero Recode 2, which i think i'm gunna put to the test and see if it works.

Thanks again
Wish me luck!
